Do we still say “please, pass the peas?” or do we just grab what we want? I think having good manners isn’t about editing yourself, it’s simply showing the people around me that I respect others and myself.
Being yourself, doesn’t mean trampling on others or making others feel bad. Quite the contrary! When you feel good about yourself… you want others to feel good about themselves , too. Being polite shows how you feel about yourself and others.

Some pretty funny jokes are not very polite. Have you ever seen the old time Saturday Night Live programs that caused the biggest laughs. Or watched Eddie Murphy, George Carlin or Richard Pryor who were the kings of funny. Or remember Mad Magazine? But isn’t it obnoxious when someone is trying to always gather attention from using shock value or being crude? So what’s the difference? Timing? Mood? Maybe. Is humor even predictable?
